The service of Collation and Installation of Rev. Sam Ponniah as the 10th Archdeacon of Jaffna took place during Evensong at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour on 21st December 2016.
The impressive tri-lingual service was largely attended by clergy, family, friends and past and present parishioners of churches Fr. Sam had served in.
The choir of Christ Church, Dehiwela his last parish, was in attendance while former Bishop, Rt. Rev. Duleep de Chickera was the preacher.
Fr. Sam is the son of one of the diocese’s senior clergy. Rev. Jubilee and Selena and had his secondary education at St. Thomas’ College, Mount lavinia. He served as the chaplain of the Church of Ceylon Youth Movement from 2006.
He assumed his new post on 1st January 2017, while the former Archdeacon of Jaffna, Ven. Jeyanth Jeyaweerasingan took over as vicar of Christ Church, Dehiwela.
