History
This church was dedicated to St. Thomas the Apostle on 22 July 1934 on the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene. The church was built on land gifted by Mr. H.H.A. Jayawardena, then Crown Procter of Chilaw and had a thriving congregation until it was burned down during the communal riots in 1983. It was re-built soon after. Eventually it was closed down for some years and was re-opened for Holy Eucharist again in 2007.
